The Story of Brahmarishi Vishwamitra

Brahmarishi Vishwamitra  is one of the most respected rishis or righ-minded of ancient India. He is the participantant in writting of  the Rigveda, including Gayatri Mantra. The Ancient literature mentioned  that only 24 rishis since antiquity have understood the whole meaning of Gayatri Mantra. There  are the assumption that Vishwamitra was the first, and Yajnavalkya the last.

The story of Vishwamitra is written  in the Balakanda of Valmiki Ramayana. Also  relationship of Vishwamitra and Menaka mentioned in Mahabharata and  also mentioned that the relationship of Maharishi Vishwamitra and Upsara Menaka resulted a baby girl who called after , Shakuntala, whose story is narrated in Adi Parva of Mahabharata.

In Valmiki Ramayana ,Verse 51 of Balakanda, there is a story metioned about the Vishwamitra. There is mentioned that  Vishwamitra  was a king in ancient India, also called Kaushika (descendant of Kusha) and belonged to Amavasu Dynasty. Vishwamitra was originally the Chandravanshi  King of Kanyakubja. He was a brave warrior and the great-grandson of a great king named Kusha( not confused with Kusha, son of Rama).
There are confusions between Valmiki Ramayana and  Vishnu Puran regarding the birth of Vishwamitra-
As per Ramayana,There was a king named Kusha (not to be confused with Kusha, son of Rama), a intelligent child  of Brahma and Kusha's son was the powerful and verily righteous Kushanabha. One who is highly renowned by the name Gaadhi was the son of Kushanabha and Gaadhi's son is Vishwamitra.
According to Various Purans. Vishnu Purana and Harivamsha chapter 27 (dynasty of Amaavasu) of Mahabharata mentions the birth of Vishwamitra. According to Vishnu Purana, Kushanabha married a young beautiful lady of Purukutsa dynasty  and had got  a son by name Gaadhi, and after Gaadhi had a daughter named Satyavati. We are clarified this Satyavati is not the Satyavati of Mahabharat.Satyavati was married with an old Brahmin  Ruchika who was foremost among the race of Bhrigu. Ruchika wanted a son having the qualities of a Brahmin and so he gave Satyavati a sacrificial offering (charu, something like foodstuff) which he had prepared to achieve this objective. He also gave Satyavati's mother another charu(like foodstuff) to make her conceive a son with the character of a Kshatriya at her request. But Satyavati's mother made a request to Satyavati for exchange  her Charu with her and Satyavati accepted that offer. So that's the reason, Satyavati's mother giving birth to Vishvamitra, son of a Kshatriya Gadhi with qualities of a Brahmin and Satyavati gave birth to Jamadagni(descendent of the sage Bhrigu), father of Parashurama, a Brahmin with qualities of a Kshatriya.
